De huidige situatie

Due to the near-total destruction of the health system and its infrastructure, most SRHR services have collapsed. Women and girls struggle to access contraception, treatment for sexually transmitted infections, treatment after sexual violence, or safe places to give birth, as well as access to prenatal, delivery, and postnatal care. Women and adolescent girls are forced to endure their periods without adequate sanitary pads, pain relief, water or sanitation facilities, and often queue for hours to access overcrowded toilets in unsafe conditions.

What is needed to end this humanitarian crisis in terms of SRHR?

  1. A sustainable and permanent ceasefire that is respected, and full, unimpeded humanitarian access to Gaza.
  2. Sustainable funding for humanitarian aid and recovery, including funding for UNRWA and local actors.
  3. Prioritisation of life-saving sexual and reproductive health and rights without discrimination.
  4. Protection and prioritisation of the most marginalised and disadvantaged populations.

The briefing below from Countdown 2030 Europe, of which Sensoa International is a member, explains in detail what these needs are, what is required to meet them, and what policymakers can do to contribute.
