Cooperation

In Belgium, Sensoa International operates alongside partner organisations and the government within the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Working Group of Be-cause health, the Belgian network for international health. Sensoa also manages the secretariat of the Parliamentarians for the 2030 AgendaSensoa is also part of Perspective2030, the platform of Belgian civil society actors following up Belgium's implementation of the sustainable development goals. In cooperation with members of Be-cause health Sensoa developed the e-tutorial Body&Rights

Policy monitoring

Sensoa International closely monitors Belgian and international development policy on sexual and reproductive health and rights, HIV and Aids. Sensoa International specifically oversees:

  • the implementation of the Belgian policy document concerning sexual and reproductive health and rights) (2007); the Belgian policy document concerning the fight against HIV and Aids)(2006), the Belgian policy document concerning the right to health and healthcare (2008) and Belgium's strategy and actionplan on gender in development (2016);
  • expenditure on sexual and reproductive health, HIV and Aids by the Belgian Directorate-General for Development Cooperation;
  • Belgium’s role in European and international development policy concerning sexual and reproductive health and rights, and HIV and Aids.

Advising government bodies

  • Sensoa International advises the Belgian Directorate-General for Development Cooperation on the actual requirements and developments in sexual and reproductive health and rights, HIV and Aids:
  • in multilateral collaboration with UNFPA, UNAIDS and UNWOMEN and in cooperation with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM);
  • in governmental cooperation with partner countries in which Belgium is active;
  • in the international decision making process concerning development aid.

Sensoa International advises on Belgian, European and International policy during international negotiations on, and monitoring of, international agreements such as:

International partnerships

International policy operations are implemented in conjunction with international partners, including Sensoa's umbrella organisation International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF),  Countdown 2030 Europe, a European consortium of NGOs that aim to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in developing countries and EuroNGOs, the European network for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), population and development.
